The Fiji Search Bar

If you haven't noticed already, I try to create many individual plugins that seek to accomplish small tasks. In that way, it becomes straightforward to automate ImageJ workflows with macros that string these plugins together. The downside of this approach is that one ends up browsing the ImageJ menu structure in search of plugins in many places. Thanks to the Fiji team, ImageJ and Fiji have a command finder window that lets you quickly search for and run commands. Simply type the letter "L" and the command finder pops up. Since finding this amazing tool, I no longer use the menus! In fact, when writing my tutorials, I often have to use the command finder to remember where my plugins are!

In the name of progress, the most recent releases of Fiji updated the command finder to be a search bar integrated into the Fiji toolbar. This search bar finds not only menu commands but web documentation for plugins. While this is, in principle, a great idea, I have found it buggy and difficult to use compared to the old search bar. If you are like me and want the old command finder back, just go to Edit>Options>Search Bar... and select "None" for search bar style.
