As a part of your experience as a PhD student in the OU program, the STM895 course is required, and working thru the website resources will allow you to evaluate your current skills and propose a development plan to further refine the skills important to a successfully PhD scientist. The information below will help you thru this process and demonstrate your successful achievement of your skills. A table is also available from Shelly Hornbuckle that enumerates the skills you should achieve by the end of your PhD training and submission of your thesis. Completion of this table and a meeting with Leanne to discuss is required prior to your Probationary review. Annual review and updating of the table should occur prior to completing the Annual Report to the OU and incorporation of the development achievements and plan for the upcoming year incorporated into the appropriate sections of the Annual Report Form (due at the end of March of each year until you submit your thesis). The following links will help you access the course materials.
